The Hawaiian shaka has arrived at 1600, infiltrated the beltways of D.C. and made digital headway into the halls of Congress. The shaka, the Hawaiian hand greeting originated amongst the young, hip, surfer dude crowd of Hawaii’s north shore but is now a common state wide greeting - “Hi, how are you bro ?” The remaking and shaka hand shaking of America has begun. A stodgy Capitol Hill embracing a more casual, laid back attitude could be a good thing. A new, fresh & relaxed mind set and creative thinking ready to attack the nation’s many challenges.
What’s next - country wide Aloha Fridays? Just imagine a weekly, colorfully clad America from sea to shining sea.
My 18 year old son and his buddies think that Barack “is cool”. I haven’t scratched the surface of what that really means to them. But his very un-cool dad can relate to the new prez too. A prez that; is younger than me(ouch!), has a Hawaiian connection, loves pick up basketball, enjoys Hawaiian BBQ- imu pig, favors a college football play off and shares the number 44 with many of my favorites (Hank Aaron, Jim Brown, Danny Ainge, Willie McCovey & Reggie Jackson).
BBQ Nation rise up and start working on that dream!
